The Calm Before the Storm: Preparing the Ground for What’s Next
Share
If I had to describe the feeling around Larson’s Land this week, I’d call it the calm before the storm. But it’s a good storm.
We are in the thick of preparation for our big move, and right now, it’s all about the details. We are transferring utilities, scheduling inspections, and reviewing the plans we’ve poured so much time into. Through all the paperwork and logistics, we are praying every single day for God’s continued protection and discernment.
Every step we take right now has three goals: to glorify God, to build Larson’s legacy, and to serve our community. I truly believe this next chapter is going to do exactly that.
Building the Vision (and Bigger Roasters)
Part of that next chapter means scaling up the coffee operation. We’ve been researching larger commercial coffee roasters and the necessary equipment to ensure we are fully food and health compliant at the new spot. Some of these roasters are massive!
When I look at this equipment, I don't just see machinery; I see the future. I can already picture school field trips coming through our doors one day. Seeing those kids' faces light up as they watch the roasting process and learn how things are made—that is what it’s all about for me.
Behind the scenes, I’m also testing out beans from several new coffee importers. We are hoping to establish strong, long-term relationships that will secure better wholesale pricing without sacrificing the quality you’ve come to expect from us. I’ll let you know how the taste tests go!
Life on the Farm Meanwhile, the daily work on the farm doesn't stop. Those 30 chicks we brought in aren't so little anymore. They are all grown up and are officially being transferred to the big hen house today. Pretty soon, they’ll start laying, which brings our total flock up to 80 chickens. Wow. That is a lot of birds, but we are ready for it. I know that Larson is right here with us in spirit moving mountains with us.
The Real Estate Hustle
On top of the farm and the roasting, my full-time job in real estate is humming right along. We just put a beautiful new 20-acre property on the market and have several more houses getting ready to list.
Right now, I have four active buyers looking for homes stretching everywhere from Harrisonville to Plattsburg. If you or someone you know is thinking about selling soon, let me know. I would be honored to help you navigate the process. Plus, I’ll bring some fresh-roasted coffee to our first meeting.
Mark 4:26-28
This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
Hold the Line
By this time next week, we are going to have a lot of new things happening and some big updates to share. Keep following along on this journey with us. The fire is hot, the preparations are made, and we are ready for what God has next.
